LILY
Lily was born at H.A.C.K. in April 1995.  She went out on loan at 3 and was very well looked after.  It is believed that wrongdoers let Lily deliberately out of her paddock and she then made her way into a shed and ate a bag of 20 rat poison nuts.  The cost of her treatment will run into hundreds of pounds.  Her life has been far from normal, read her fascinating story and if you are a keeper of equines, heed the warning that rat poison should not be kept anywhere near horses....
OUR FRIENDS DEARLY DEPARTED.....
Merlin
, one of HACK's best known characters has sadly passed away.  To read a moving tribute to Merlin click here.....

Ragwort
The potential danger of ragwort has been known for many years and every owner of land was required to control ragwort either by direct spraying or by lifting and burning it.   Ragwort is extremely toxic to horses. In summary the horse (and to a lesser extent cows and sheep) can eat ragwort for several years showing no clinical effects at all until there is a dramatic and catastrophic development of evidence of end-stage liver failure.  The end is inevitable.   You can help......
Tinkerbelle
Our newest resident Tinkerbelle is just 20" high.  She has a problem with the growth and development of a front leg and needs a special paddock with her own shelter as she cannot be turned out with the other horses.  UPDATED

FUNDRAISING
The sanctuary is solely reliant upon the generosity and good nature of its supporters and has to pay rent for its accommodation from the local authority. Work is funded
by a never-ending round of raffles, car boot sales, special appearances by Scamp and adoptions.  We need new ideas for fund-raising projects and it would certainly help HACK to have more fund-raising volunteers in all areas, to help in this aspect of the charity.  If you think you could help click here.
CAN YOU HELP HORSES LIKE TEDDY?
Teddy was left in a garage to die whilst his owners moved house.  Read this moving account, and to see why it is imperative that we continue with our hard and often heart breaking work.  George the donkey is a firm favourite at the sanctuary, he was bought from auction by H.A.C.K. in very poor condition and in a very distressed state.

Could you contribute?  Click here to find out how............

COME AND SEE THE LITTLE PALS
George, Albert, Lenny and Scamp are all resident at the sanctuary.  They are all on our adoption list and if you are unable to travel to our sanctuary, you can help by donating £10 per year to help towards the cost of their keep.  If you are able to visit us, find out how.
