Hercules (above)

Hercules came to the sanctuary neglected and underfed.  He had a tooth problem.  With regular care he soon became well.  He is a quiet lad who loves to be groomed and fussed.  He has now been gelded and found a new home

 

 

Chestnut Colts (above)

Two very sad little colts,  who had been locked in a dark, dirty stable for quite some time,  both underweight and weak, one had a lot of patchy hair loss  both have scar injuries.  It is taking a lot of dedicated care to get these little guys well, and even after several months there is still a lot of ground to make up., but they are finally getting there.  The first photo is taken after they had been at the sanctuary for approx. 6 weeks, the next at 3 months and the last at 6 months.  Both  have now been castrated but had to go to Leahurst Large Animal Hospital (Liverpool university)  due to complications.   

 

 

Harvey (above)

Harvey a sad little colt who was extremely thin under such a heavy dirty coat, he has been badly neglected, suffered sarcoids on legs and chest, and was so underweight his stifle joints kept popping out.  On arrival he collapsed and fell to the ground..  It took a lot of care, good food and a regular routine to get this youngster back on his feet.  But look at him now.  Harvey needed a hernia operation.

 

ROBBIE (above)

This is Robbie, a small cob  standing approx 12.2 hh.  He was neglected, underweight and had a thick matted coat that hid a multitude of sins after constant care and a good diet this little guy soon became well and happy.  He has now gone to a new home.

 

FRANCES (above)

This is Frances, who had been neglected, was very underweight and had an severe eye infection.  She has now made a really good recovery but has got vision problems.  She is very kind and easy to do..

 

Bramble (above)

Had been neglected and had not received enough feed to maintain his condition, but he made a good recovery within months at being at the sanctuary, he was good to handle and had a very kind temperament, he has now gone on to a new home.  

Abandoned Aged Race Horse (above)

This old race horse/ brood mare had served her owners well, but in spite of that they left her in a field and obviously did not care for her.

After much investigation, she is now being looked after by someone else.
