ACCESS, FACILITIES AND
EDUCATION - OUR FUTURE PLANS |
| Whilst the Sanctuary is for
the purpose of providing care to rescued horses, we also have a
programme for the education of the general public who are taught the
commitment and expense of what owning their own horse or pony can
mean. They come for hands-on experience and hopefully go away with
an idea of what owning such a large animal entails.
We also get a number of visits from handicapped and disabled people who like to touch and groom some of the ponies, Albert, Lenny, Buster, Scamp, Bailey and George the Donkey are ideal for this and have superb temperaments. We also have a great deal of elderly people who also show a keen interest in the Sanctuary and often like to visit us. We have had visits from playgroups and preschools and children from a special needs school, who spent a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon giving the ponies attention. It is all beneficial to these people who enjoy and find pleasure in the ponies at the Sanctuary. Fund-raising for the horses and ponies at the Sanctuary does not cover the need for the facilities and access that these visitors require and although we are open to such we are in urgent need of alternative funding to provide their basic requirements. Wheelchair users find access very difficult - to get into the stable yard because of the uneven ground and hardcored areas and to the small paddocks is practically impossible as it is for many able bodied persons and the elderly. We need to look for alternative funding and grants from persons and trusts who would like to help provide these facilities for us and provide a safer area for the visitors. Can you help us to give these adults and children a few happy hours at H.A.C.K? If so please email Pamela Bluck Facilities required: Pathways for easy access - minimum

helping us, we have drawn up plans which you can view
here (this is a little slow to download due to the large file size,
but bear with us whilst it is taking a little bit of time). |
